Northrop signs digital enterprise agreement with UK MoD organisation

Northrop Grumman has been awarded a digital enterprise agreement with the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) organisation, ‘Defence Digital’.

Defence Digital organisation ensures that effective digital and information technology (D&IT) is being used by the military and business front line. The organisation is guided by the D&IT Functional strategy.

The agreement covers Interoperable C4I Services (ICS) and command and control (C2) technical consultancy.

Developed in the UK, ICS is designed to help create, visualise and distribute the common operating picture for the military commanders.

It brings together an open architecture and a collection of capabilities related to track management and situational awareness.

Using the required information from the operating picture, commanders are equipped to plan, execute and handle military operations.

ICS has been continuously evolving for more than 25 years to provide the core C2 systems for the UK MoD and Nato headquarters / ships.

Furthermore, it is also deployed by many other countries to power their national C2 systems.

Northrop Grumman UK National Security Solutions director Katharine Sealy said: “Northrop Grumman in the UK has a long history of providing enhanced value and commercial flexibility for the MoD.

“Our agile approach to C2 software development and open architectural design philosophy helps to ensure that UK forces maintain an information advantage.”

The Defence Digital organisation has an annual budget of over £2bn and a team of some 2,400-workforce, including military, civil servants and contractors.

In May, Northrop Grumman secured a $959.1m full-rate production (FRP) contract for the US Army’s Common Infrared Countermeasure (CIRCM) system.
